Palme d’Or:
“Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives”

This film is loosely based on the life of the Cistercian monks of Tibhirine in Algeria from 1993 until their removal in 1996.

Not much is known about the plot, apart from Bardem playing a man embroiled in shady dealings who is confronted by a childhood friend, who now happens to be a policeman.

With the arrival of these two people to life, Clement has the opportunity to reconsider their emotional ties with people.
